Charlie Wilson's War

A, this was a great film all around. I think anyone could enjoy this movie. It is political but if that goes over your head then just focus on the stars...Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts!!! It had one of my favorites...Philip Seymour Hoffman, he is a busy one this winter. This was a great story of how politicians can sometimes be very inspirational and uplifting, but at the end of that day they are just people too. It shows us how it takes more than one person to make a change in the world and if you don't have the right people on your side than making a change can sometimes me impossible.

Sweeney Todd

B+, Very entertaining. I loved the horrible killing scenes and the singing!! The cinematography was amazing as we knew it would be. Johnny Deep is truly Tim Burton's muse. Don't see this film is musicals don't sit well with you or if you have a weak stomach.

Juno

B+, I enjoyed this film and did quite a but of laughing, which I love to do. The second half of the film made me appreciate the first half more. I was just about getting tired of the story when it took a well needed dramatic turn. I highly recommend it if you like the preview.

Romance and Cigarettes

This movie defies all bad choices writers and directors make. It was a musical, comedy, tragic drama, love story that made sense and kept you on your toes. It was brilliant and I recommend it for anyone who wants a laugh. You must be open minded and ready for some weird comedy to really appreciate this film.

Atonement

Oh I do love James McAvoy...This movie had bits that made my tummy fuzzy and my throat go dry and it is those moments that allowed me to enjoy the movie. Over all, it is depressing and has a sad ending so beware. It is a sad story of love that was never given a fair chance, so it leaves a lot to the imagination and the heart to figure out.

Before the Devil Knows your Dead

C. This film might have been better had I not just seen Margot at the Wedding, but it was still excruciating to get through. I had it all figured out after the first thirty and then just had to slowly watch it play out until the horrible end. The people in the movie put themselves in situations, really bad ones, that they have no good options or way out of and that alone is enough to make you want to drink. This holiday season is full of depressing family movies that we should all just skip if we want to have any holiday spirit what-so-ever. The only plus is you leave feeling good about your own screwed up family...and hey, anything to make them look better, hehe!!! If you like Marisa Tomei's boobs, then your in luck with this one!

Magot at the Wedding, oh I mean Margot

D-. Ahhhhh...do not see this film. Not even when it comes on TV for free, do not waste your time. I felt like I needed a dose of Prozac and a stiff one just to get through the last half of the movie. Nicole Kidman does a better job getting on your nerves that you ever thought possible, which I guess means she did her job well. This movie was made by the same people who did The Squid and the Whale, which should have been red flag number one.
